The  Farinelli Study Center, open in 1998, is dedicated to the historical figure of the famous castrato Carlo Broschi, known as Farinelli (1705-1782), who settled in Bologna from 1761 to 1782, the year of his death.

The  Farinelli Study Center aims at:
-promoting publications about and analysing the figure of Farinelli and of other famous castrato singers.
-organizing vocal music concerts and competitions under the repertoire of sopranists, contraltists and countertenors.
-promoting meetings, study sessions, seminars and exhibitions together with archive research and any other specific connected events.

Among the most important recent events, it is worth while mentioning the restorations of Farinelli's tomb at the Certosa of Bologna with the support of the Royal College of Spain, included in the events for Bologna 2000, European City of Culture; the exhibition "Farinelli a Bologna" at the Soprintendenza per i Beni Ambientali e Architettonici dell'Emilia Romagna, within the Terza Settimana della Cultura (2001); the inauguration of the City Park in the name of Farinelli, near the site where  the famous singer lived in Bologna; t
