The Dossier gets to Paris

On Thursday 30th January 2020, the nomination dossier of the Portici di Bologna reached its destination: it was in fact delivered to the Ambassador at the Permanent Delegation of Italy to UNESCO in Paris, who in turn forwarded it to the World Heritage Center.

After the appointment as official Italian nomination for the 2020-2021 cycle by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO on 21st January, the first part of the application process has just ended. Now a further crucial phase is opening, in which ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) will examine in detail the documentation of the Dossier. ICOMOS is in fact the UNESCO advisory body, called to analyze the Nomination Dossier and to establish if it meets the indispensable requirements for inscription on the World Heritage List. This is an articulated technical investigation, which involves various phases including on-site inspections and in-depth interviews with the proposers. The final outcome will be known in 2021.
