The project, coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna, aims at providing qualified reception to women, alone or with children, who have applied for or obtained international protection, for being victims of violence or torture, or suffering from psychic discomfort. This includes facilitating, to refugees or asylum seekers, access to treatment or rehabilitation programs in mental health service structures, by experimenting processes of integration with other people hosted in the same structures.

LEXOP – Lex-Operators all together for women victims of intimate partners violence

The European Project LEXOP aims to build a multidisciplinary network of operators involved, at different levels, in fighting intimate partner violence, in order to provide a coordinated response by the institutions, so that they can work together to protect the victims and persecute the offenders.
The project, coordinated by the University of Bologna, is transnational and involves various partners from Italy (Bologna, Milan and Turin) to Spain (Catalogna), France (Bordeaux), Germany (Hessen) and Greece (Athens).

Funding Programme: Daphne III (2009-2010), of the General Program «Fundamental Rights and Justice»
Starting date: November 2010
Duration: 30 months


EUROCITIES-NLAO, the Network of Local Authority Observatories on Active Inclusion

EUROCITIES-NLAO is a dynamic network of nine European cities - Birmingham, Bologna, Brno, Copenhagen, Cracovia, Lille-Roubaix, Rotterdam, Sofia and Stockholm, where each local government has set up a special Observatory with the aim to share information, promote mutual learning and carry out research activities about implementation of active inclusion strategies at a local level.
The initiative starts from a previous pilot project, led by five cities, that ran from March 2009 to August 2010 and focused on the subjects of social house building and job inclusion.

Funding Programme: PROGRESS (2007-2013)
Start: September 2010
Duration: 18 months

In December 2011 Eurocities published a Collection of good practices from the 9 partner cities, called "Social Innovation for Active Inclusion: Collection of good practices", where Bologna is represented by its online magazine Flashgiovani.it.

Roma-NET Integration of Roma population

The main goal of the project is to set up an international exchange plan that can facilitate the transfer of policies, project-ability and planning, and also good practices as regards the integration of Roma populations, offering at the same time a sort of “capacity building” to the operators dealing with integration. A Local Action Plan will the therefore developed, in order to get funding from the structural funds or other European funds, for the implementation of the actions themselves.

SRAP – Addiction prevention within Roma and Sinti communities

The general objective of the project is to tackle the addiction prevention of legal/illegal substances among young Roma, between 11-24 years old.
Based on the situation analysis and needs assessment, the specific objectives of the project are:

  • To improve and exchange in Europe the understanding of the behaviours and practices of the young Roma related to drug use and of the determinants affecting this use by performing a research action in all partners countries
  • To strengthen the prevention skills of young Roma and to improve the intercultural health approach of healthcare workers 
  • To sensitise the public health sector and the civil society to the distinct needs of young Roma and promote the inclusion of Roma needs in health and prevention policies and interventions; to promote the inclusion of this issue also in the research agenda and the adoption of evidence-based approaches in the mainstream policy making.
