.... She was born in Bologna in 1973.
She starts singing at the age of 8 and, later on,
gets close to jazz taking part to summer clinics
and stages.
She's been carrying on a concert activity, both
as a singer and as a composer, for a few years
now, during which she got a chance to collaborate
with artists such as: STEVE COLEMAN, CARLA BLEY,
KENNY WHEELER, DANIELE SEPE, GEORGE RUSSELL,
GIANNI GEBBIA, BRUNO TOMMASO, etc...
.... At present, she attends the 3rd year of
the singing course and the 5th year of the
composition course at the "G.P.Martini"
conservatory in Bologna.
She's been working with a quartet of her own for
a while, the "OPEN QUARTET", with which
she has recorded a CD for the German label Y.V.P.
music; the title of the disc is "Danse e
rebours" and the group is already working at
the next production, that is going to be about
B.Brecht's poetry.
.... C.
Zavalloni also belongs to the musical association
BASSESFERE, that aims at widespreading and
increasing the research in the field of
improvised- creative music. It's an ensemble of
15 musicians with a jazzbackground, that tries to
promote, (and produce!), avant-garde music.
.... The
last work she took part to it's a project about
J.Prèvert: it deals with a mixture of improvised
music, electronics and poetry.
The name of the group is "IMPASSE",
from an idea of F.Cusa (also member of the OPEN
QUARTET); this CD is going to be released next
year.
.... Nowadays, she is also working at a
theatre production either as a singer-actress and
as a composer, in collaboration with the Swiss
writer Lorenzo Buccella, collaboration that has
already given interesting results in the
experimental theatre performance "LA BALLATA
DEI MATTI", played in Switzerland last year.
