"afriche e orienti" is a cultural non-profit association working to inform and raise awareness on development, international solidarity and multiculturalism. It focuses mainly on African countries, the Mediterranean Region and the Near and Middle East.
As indicated in the statute, the Association

• publishes the journal "afriche e orienti";
• carries out research projects and studies published in the series "afriche e orienti" - the books;
• gathers and prepares documentation, organises workshops and courses, also in cooperation with education institutions;
• promotes cultural initiatives (exhibitions, seminars, courses, conferences);
• acts as co-sponsor with local institutions and associations in the African-Mediterranean Region to promote freedom of press and to support the activity of local publishing companies to publish local research projects;
• promotes initiatives to raise awareness and inform the public on cooperation, development, peace, human rights, interdependence and solidarity.
  

The association is legally based in Bologna and has a branch office in Naples.

Membership rates, activities and courses are meant to cover the expenses and support the initiatives of the Association which is a non-profit organisation.
