RCN - Rainbow Cities Network

RCN
Rainbow Cities is an international network of cities concerned with LGBT policies. Based on an association of 43 Dutch cities with an active policy against gender discrimination and to the protection of LGBTI rights, the network is now counting 29 member cities from 15 different countries.
The Rainbow Cities aim at exchanging and sharing their experiences about LGBT policies, so that they can learn from each other. Cities from all over the world can join the network, provided they have an active local LGBT policy .
The City of Bologna is a member as starting from April 2016, when a MOU with the network was signed by the Office for Equal Opportunities and Safeguard of Differences, Department of Rights and New Citizenships of the City of Bologna. This Office is in contact with the network and deals with monitoring and coordination of policies and actions implemented by the city government as regards the Safeguard of Differences and LGBTI rights.
In August 2016 the Deputy Mayor of Bologna for Equal Opportunities and Gender Differences, LGBTI rights, and Fight against Discrimination, Ms Susanna Zaccaria, attended the annual assembly of the network, taking place in Amsterdam and coinciding with EuroPride, the ‘European version’ of Gay Pride. In this occasion, all RCN members could network with other international guests during several events.
In November 2016 the City of Bologna hosted a study visit promoted by the Council of Europe in cooperation with RCN, by a delegation from Montenegro, to share and exchange good practices in matter of antidiscrimination policies aimed at LGBTI people.
