A bridge between cultures: Spanish children visiting Bologna for an Erasmus+ experience.

On April 12 2024, the children from Escuela de Educación Infantil "La Julianita" in Aracena, Spain, arrived in Bologna to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility program. This event represents one of the first experiences in Europe of mobility abroad for an early childhood school, marking a significant step in the field of intercultural education. The experience not only opens new opportunities for Spanish and Italian students but can also serve as inspiration for future international exchanges between early childhood schools.

Accompanied by one parent each and their teachers, the children were hosted at the municipal early childhood school "Grosso" in the Navile District. Thanks to collaboration with various local institutions, the program offered a wide range of educational and cultural activities during their stay.

The program, developed in synergy with the staff of the hosting school and the Erasmus team of the Municipality of Bologna - Education, Training and New Generations Area, ensured a balanced combination of activities in the morning, in collaboration with the Children and Families Center Tasso Inventore and the Territorial Educational Service Aula Didattica Parco Grosso, and free time in the afternoon to explore Bologna. The group also participated in cultural and theatrical events at the Teatro Testoni, while the teachers took part in the Bologna Children Books Fair, expanding their skills in children's literature.

This experience offered Spanish children the opportunity to explore a new culture and city. At the same time, it contributed to the promotion of interculturalism in two countries from the early years of life. The hope is that this is just the first of many experiences of international exchange for early childhood schools, promoting a more open and interconnected future for future generations.
