Opened the Itabashi Central Library, with the Bologna Gallery inside

On Sunday 28th March the opening ceremony of the new City Library in Itabashi, Bologna's twin city in the Tokyo metropolitan area, was held. The library hosts a permanent section called Children's Book Hall, totally dedicated to Bologna and to children's literature.
The ceremony, which included a speech by mayor Takeshi Sakamoto, could not be attended in person by any Italian delegation from Bologna, but the mayor and vice mayor of Bologna, Virginio Merola and Valentina Orioli, had sent their auspicious messages, which were then read at the opening by the Director of the Library and are now displayed at the entrance of the Bologna Gallery.
The permanent hall dedicated to Bologna was built thanks to the contest "Itabashi calls Bologna", launched between 2017 and 2018 by the Municipality of Bologna and the foundation Fondazione Innovazione Urbana, Order of Architects in Bologna, University of Bologna, Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and City of Itabashi, and the winner of which was the project called Biblioportico.
