Project LIFE CLIVUT: Bologna opening three Phenological Monitoring Areas

Around 100 trees and plants found their home, last November 21st, inside Parco dei Giardini in Bologna, in what was opened as the first of three Phenological Monitoring Areas in town, hosting a total of 300 trees.

Next two phenological areas will be opened in the urban parks named Nicholas Green and Villa Ghigi.

The creation of Phenological areas is one of the actions included in the European project LIFE CLIVUT (Climate Value of Urban Trees), partnering the City of Bologna and coordinated by the University of Perugia, as funded by the EU LIFE programme.

Bologna is one of the 4 pilot cities, together with Perugia, Salonikki (Greece) and Oeiras (Portugal), in the Mediterranean area that are implementing this special Urban Climate Green Asset strategy.

By monitoring and studying these trees, their effects on the climate can be better explained: a true innovative urban green asset strategy, which includes the involvement of citizens and business companies.
