Bologna meets Turku: international exchanges at the time of coronavirus

On May 13th a web meeting was held between representatives from the Municipality of Bologna and a delegation from the City of Turku, Finland, within the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, Europe, and in cooperation with Eurocities.

The meeting was originally supposed to occur in Bologna, in April 2020, with a Finnish delegation on a return visit against a previous visit of a Bolognese delegation to Turku, back in May 2019, within an exchange programme aimed at improving mutual knowledge and skills of local governments for the climate change mitigation and adaptation. It’s part of the twinning programme launched by the Covenant of Mayors at the and od 2018, which selected 12 cities and 2 provinces and created 7 pairs of local governments, including Bologna and Turku.

The web meeting was attended, among the others, by Mr. Mijka Meretoja, of the Turku climate team, and Giovanni Fini, coordinator of the climate adaptation plan, from the Department of Environment and Green areas of the Municipality of Bologna. The two had already met in Turku, last year, on the first visit.
