At EUROCITIES Environment Forum, hosted by the city of Genoa last 3-4 April, 12 big European cities, including Bologna, subscribed the new Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy: they committed to reduce carbon emissions to at least 40%, and to adopt an integrated approach for mitigation and adaptation to climate change, in line with the EU climate objectives.
The Covenant of Mayors was promoted in 2008 in Europe with the aim to gather local governments voluntarily committed to achieve and overcome the EU objectives in terms of climate and energy.
Ms Valentina Orioli, deputy mayor in charge for environment, was representing the City of Bologna at the signing ceremony.
