Bologna and Barcelona together for democracy

On Monday 26 November 2018, in Barceola, Spain, Mayor Merola and Mayor Ada Colau signed a three-year cooperation agreement between the Municipality of Bologna and the Municipality of Barcelona, defining a common strategy to promote social cohesion and strengthen democracy in their cities, thus developing a model of open and collaborative city .
The agreement has a deadline in three years, but it can be renewed further, and engage the two signatory cities to collaborate within 9 intervention areas: Welcoming, Culture, Sharing Economy, Housing policies, Open and Big Data, Tourism, Participatory Democracy, Female-orientation of Politics, Cooperation and Participation in European projects.
The International Relations Department of the City of Barcelona and the International Relations and Projects Office of the City of Bologna, in cooperation with Bologna Foundation for Urban Innovation, are the subjects in charge for the development and monitoring of the targets.
