Urban Agenda for the EU: Bologna to lead the partnership on sustainable use of land

After the signing of the Pact of Amsterdam, back in June 2016, setting out the objectives of the EU Urban Agenda, the 12 partnerships set up for each of the 12 priority themes have now been started.
One of these partnership, i.e. the one concerned with the topic "Sustainable land use and nature-based solutions", will be coordinated jointly by Poland and the City of Bologna
The City Goverment of Bologna and the Polish Ministry of Economic Development will be working together with the European commissione and a small group of cities and member states, to develop an adequate action plan.
The partnership is intended to suggest improvements both in the regulations and in the management of European funds in favour of urban areas, starting from the sharing of skills and experiences among the cities.
The candidacy of Bologna for this partnership was put forward by Bologna deputy mayors in charge of urban planning and of environment, Ms. Valentina Orioli, and of International Relations, Mr. Matteo Lepore. As a matter of fact, "Sustainable use of land", "Urban regeneration" and "Resilience" are keywords of the current political mandate;  and Bologna, on the ground of its proved skills and ability to connect with the European networks of organizations and cities, stands out once again as one the major cities  involved in the European decision making process.
