Bologna hosts the UNESCO Creative Cities

Following the decision made during the last meeting in Montreal, the city of Bologna will host the 2013 edition of the world annual meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities network.
This is for Bologna an important acknowledgement and at the same time a remarkable result, as it will allow our city to welcome many representatives of institutions and enterprises from more than 30 cities playing a major role at the international level in various fields o activity.
During the days of the meeting, Bologna will have a chance to show the world its best products in the field of design, music, gastronomy, folk art, cinema, media arts and literature.
Bologna is UNESCO Creative City of Music since 2006, when the Network selected the city thanks to its extensive musical heritage and contemporary production, drawing from Father Gian Battista Martini’s compositions, up to Maestro Claudio Abbado’s direction of the Mozart Orchestra; going from the Municipal Theatre that dates back to 1763, to the contemporary scene of independent music, enlivening Bologna’s wineries, pubs, clubs and festivals.
Music in Bologna plays an important role in everyday life, also thanks to its many associations active in this field and drawing from a wide range of music genres, from classical music to opera, from jazz to folk, from singer-songwriters to electronic music.
