This section of the Library is specifically dedicated to kids. Inaugurated in 2001, it occupies the part of the municipal palace that originally hosted the apartments of Cardinal Legato (beginning of the 16th century) and a hall, which was first used as a bank and then as a “Sala Burattini” (a space for puppet performances).
The library holds 40.000 books (among which more than 2.000 come from the 1970es historical collection of the Giardini Margherita Kids Library, while 3.500 volumes are in foreign languages). It also includes 2.300 videos, 500 music CDs, 600 CD-ROMs, and 50 journals. Three video displays to watch tapes and 15 internet points to browse the web or to consult CDs are available. The library is both for children and kids (ranging from 0 to 16 years old). A small section for teachers, parents and librarians is included as well. As a member of the library, it is possible to borrow almost all the material. Registration is free.
