The Salaborsa is Bologna's civic multi-medial general Library. Books, newspapers, magazines, maps, videos, audio CDs, CD-ROMs, databases and DVDs are available. Several internet points and wifi service (provided by “Iperbole Comune di Bologna”) are available as well. Entrance is free; some utilities require registration. The library occupies the three floors of the Salaborsa, a monumental complex located inside Accursio Palace. This is the historical seat of the Municipality of Bologna, overlooking Piazza Maggiore and Piazza Nettuno, heart of the city. The aim of the library is to gather information on contemporary culture, public reading and interculture. The section of the Library dedicated to kids and boys (0-16 years old) plays an important role as access to knowledge and encouragement to read are concerned.
