The library derives its name from the quarter of the city in which it is located. Its book collection is kept updated with special regard to contemporary literature, local history and children literature. It holds over 15.000 volumes, 6 journals, 2 newspapers, photos, slides, music records, audio cassettes, geographic maps and documentation of topical interest. Sixty reading seats and four computers are available. By previously booking an appointment, one computer can be connected to the web. The library promotes several initiatives with special regard to activities for children and schools.
